CDR Scott Urbashich is a native of Mequon, Wisconsin. He received his commission in 2007 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. In 2009 CDR Urbashich was designated a naval aviator. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College and the Joint Force Staff College Joint Professional Military Education Phase II.
CDR Urbashich began his operational flying in Whidbey Island, Washington with the “World Watchers” of VQ 1. He made multiple deployments to 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleets, participating in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR.
CDR Urbashich reported to the “Doerbirds” of VT 2 in October 2013 as a T-6B instructor pilot. Serving as the CNATRA Contact Stage Manager, he was named the Training Wing Five 2015 Fixed-Wing Instructor of the Year.
In March of 2016, CDR Urbashich applied for and was selected for re-designation into the Training and Administration of the Reserve Community and promptly reported to the Rangers of VT 28 onboard NAS Corpus Christi for his department head tour.
In 2019, CDR Urbashich attended the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, graduating with highest distinction, and receiving the Drs. Daniel and Susan Thys Academic Prize for the highest grade point average by a U.S. Navy student. He subsequently reported to Navy Personnel Command as the Training and Administration of the Reserve Aviation Detailer and was selected for squadron command in March 2022.
CDR Urbashich has logged more than 4,000 flight hours and has received numerous personal, unit, and campaign awards.
