F-15E Strike Eagle

Aircraft Profile

F-15E Strike Eagle

The F-15S/SG is an air superiority tactical fighter that is totally integrated for air-to-air and deep interdiction missions. Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) has operated 4 squadrons of F-15S since 1981, received under Peace Sun. They are based at Dhahran, Khamis Mushayt and Taif air bases. The F-15SG (formerly the F-15T) is a variant of the F-15E, currently ordered by the Republic of Singapore Air Force after a seven-year evaluation period involving five other fighter aircraft under consideration.

Born out of a desire to replace the F-111, McDonnell Douglas looked to create a strike version of their air superiority fighter. The idea was to create a fighter-bomber, which could conduct its strike mission with a minimum of support and without the need for accompaniment by escort fighters.
