Training Program Information
Student Avaitors
The overall time to train for student aviators is approximately six months. During this time, the student aviator will complete the following:
- 11 day familiarization flights, known as "contact flights", to learn autorotations, regular landing pattern maneuvers, hovering skills, and emergency procedures
- 16 instrument flights culminating in the awarding of an instrument rating
- 1 solo flight in the local area and 2 solo flights to neighboring airports
- A total of 17 flights consisting of formation and tactical flights
- 5 night flights including NVG training
Instructors
For instructors going through the HITU, here is the basic syllabus lasting approximately two months:
- Approximately 100 hours of ground training
- 11 SIMS/CPTS
- 7 "B" contact flights
- 3 "C" contact flights
- 7 Instrument flights
- 6 Tactics flights
- 7 IP-IP Common Student Error flights
