MISSION: Train warriors and develop leaders.
VISION: Focus on Quality. Primary flight training builds the foundation of professional acumen for the Military Aviator. We must produce the highest quality Military Aviator, in the right quantities, in the prescribed timeframe. Our strong focus on quality will inherently achieve the other two components of our vision.
Shooter Quality Training:
BY THE BOOK: Shooters set the foundation for follow on aviation training. Adherence to procedure is vital to building this foundation. Techniques and lessons learned are essential to our mission because "you don't know what you don't know," but they must fall within established procedures and instructions at all times.
TEAM MINDSET: We are all Shooters; none of us can fulfill the mission alone. Instructors, students, and civilian staff are one team with the same mission. Everyone is essential and plays his or her own key role. We must work together and be inclusive in all facets of squadron operations.
LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONALISM: Shooters lead as professionals by setting and exemplifying high standards. While our military members are Instructors and Student Aviators, we are officers and leaders first. As Shooters, we pass on professional experiences and leadership lessons from the fleet to our more junior colleagues.
SAFETY: All Shooters are safety officers. Safety is not our mission, but without a keen eye on it, we will fail. Fly when it is safe to do so, and always by the book. Include fellow Shooters in your ORM decisions both on and off the flight line. You are obligated and encouraged to report safety concerns. Further, I direct you to propose solutions to hazardous situations on the spot. Additionally, I charge all Shooters to take action to prevent the development of future hazardous scenarios.
POLICY: Shooters focus on the mission and each other. I fully support and follow the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Wing FIVE policies for SAFETY, SEXUAL ASSAULT, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY and SUICIDE PREVENTION. We must understand and hold true to the principles of the oath we took and continue to be the professionals that we are.
