Hailing from Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin, CDR Schroeder graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2007.
CDR Schroeder earned his Wings of Gold in February 2009 and after completing his initial P-3C Orion training, reported to the "Grey Knights" of Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron (VP) 46 at Naval Station Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Washington. He deployed twice to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR) and detached to both the CENTCOM and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) AORs in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and numerous multi-national and joint operations.
In August 2013, CDR Schroeder joined the "Pro's Nest" of Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) VP-30 in Jacksonville, Florida, as an instructor pilot. While at VP-30, CDR Schroeder transitioned to the P-8A Poseidon and instructed P-8A FRS Category 1,3,5 students and supported multiple operational squadrons through P-8A transition.
Following instructor duty in February 2016, CDR Schroeder reported to the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) based in Bremerton, Washington, as an Aircraft Launch and Recovery Officer (ALRE-O) and deployed to the INDOPACOM AOR.
In December 2018, CDR Schroeder reported to the "Golden Swordsmen" of VP-47 joining the squadron on deployment to the INDOPACOM AOR and later deployed to the European Command (EUCOM) AOR. He also led detachments supporting home-land defense in Hawaii and the multi-national joint exercise, DYNAMIC MONGOOSE 19 in Norway.
CDR Schroeder then reported to the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island where he graduated from the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS) and received his Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies, and JPME Phase 1.
In September 2022, CDR Schroeder reported to Pacific Fleet (PACFLT), N53 China Plans, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He supported multiple joint exercises, war-games, and planning efforts, and concluded his time there as the Chief of Plans for PACFLT. He supported multiple joint exercises, war-games, planning efforts, and led the deliberate Operations Planning (OPLAN) focused on INDOPACOM's primary pacing threat.
CDR Schroeder has accumulated over 2,300 hours with 1,300 hours in the P-3C, and 800 hours in the P-8A. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy Achievement Medal, and other individual, unit, and campaign awards.
