Commander Jeff Laird is a native of West Chester, Pennsylvania. He graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2006 and was designated a Naval Aviator in 2008.
Laird completed operational assignments flying the MH-60S with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 and the HSC-3 Fleet Support Detachment based in Coronado, California. He served as a member of the Air Department onboard the USS WASP (LHD 1), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.
His shore assignments include instructor pilot duty with Training Squadron (VT) 27 and VT-28 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Laird served at BUPERS Three in Millington, TN as a Reserve Officer Community Manager and the Reserve Enlisted Community Manager. In 2013, Laird obtained his Master's degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and JPME Phase I from the US Air Force Air Command and Staff College.
Laird has accumulated over 3,600 hours in numerous naval aircraft. His military decorations include an Air Medal, Meritorious Accommodation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal, and various campaign, service, and unit awards.
