Information for Students and Instructors
Congratulations on your assignment to Training Squadron TWO TWO. You are joining a dynamic team of pilots dedicated to training the best naval aviators in the world. Your orders will bring you into deep South Texas. Kingsville has many attributes, named after Captain Richard King, the town is surrounded by acres of flourishing wildlife and natural beauty and is home to several of South Texas' most famous institutions.
With a rich cultural heritage and only an hour away from the sparkling waters of Padre Island National Seashore, Kingsville has all of the advantages of small town living with easy access to major amenities. Kingsville has a population of approximately 25,000 people, not including military personnel or university students. The people here are friendly and appreciate their military neighbors. An excellent rapport has always existed with the townspeople and they have a high regard for service members.
Personnel (including SNAs) will complete the check-in process through VT-22 Admin. Remember to keep your sponsor informed of when you intend to report aboard so that he or she can ensure that your arrival and check-in goes smoothly. Students
The housing market in Kingsville is currently trending upwards and demand is outstripping supply. Suitable housing can be difficult to find. We strongly encourage you to contact the Housing Referral Office.
Instructors
If you are planning on living in Corpus Christi and driving daily to Kingsville, call your Fleet & Family Support Center for options on routes. One way from Corpus Christi to Kingsville can be from 45-60 minutes and the roads can be hazardous due to fog, floods, and farm equipment.
