CDR Allan J. Fortier

A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Commander Fortier graduated from the Virginia Military Institute, earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. He earned his "Wings of Gold" in Corpus Christi, Texas, in June 2010. In December 2016, he graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a Master of Science in Aeronautics.

After completing initial P-3C training, he then reported to Patrol Squadron Forty (VP-40) in Oak Harbor, Washington, in May 2011, serving as Instructor Pilot, Mission Commander, and Pilot NATOPS Officer. He deployed with VP-40 once to the Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR) and twice to the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) AOR.

In October 2014, Fortier joined Training Squadron Thirty-Five (VT-35) in Corpus Christi as a Multi-Engine Advanced Instructor Pilot.

In July 2017, Fortier was assigned as an Aviation Launch and Recovery Officer "Shooter" on USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) in Bremerton, Washington and deployed to CENTCOM to support Operation Inherent Resolve.

As a Department Head, he reported to Unmanned Patrol Squadron Nineteen (VUP-19) in Jacksonville, Florida in 2019, ultimately executing the MQ-4C Triton's Early Operational Capability (EOC) deployment to INDOPACOM.

In January 2022, Fortier joined Commander, Patrol, and Reconnaissance Group serving as MQ-4C Triton Lead and Deputy Planning, Training, and Requirements Department Head. He selected for squadron command in March 2023 and reported to the "Wildcats" of Training Squadron Ten (VT-10) in Pensacola as executive officer in November 2024.

Fortier has accumulated more than 2,300 pilot hours across five manned aircraft as well as additional unmanned time with the MQ-4C. He is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various service and unit awards.
