Senior Enlisted Advisor

AWSCS (NAC/AW) Brian Petersen

A native of Sumner, IA, Senior Chief Brian Petersen entered Naval Service in 1997 where he attended boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL. After Graduation, he completed Naval Aircrew Candidate School and Aviation Machinist's Mate (AD) "A" school in January of 1998 in Pensacola, FL. Upon completion he went on to HMT-302 in New River, NC where he was trained as a Naval Aircrewman on the MH-53E and received his "Wings of Gold" on October of 1998.

In March of 1999, Senior Chief Petersen checked onboard Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14 (HM-14), stationed in Norfolk, VA, where he ultimately became a Helicopter Crew Chief and First Crewman. During his tenure at HM-14, he completed multiple deployments including one overseas deployment to Manama, Bahrain in support of the Fifth Fleet, providing Airborne Mine Counter Measures and Vertical Onboard Delivery.

In April of 2003, he transferred to Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands (PMRF) Kekaha, HI, he qualified as a UH-3H Crew Chief where he performed weapons recover and station Search and Rescue (SAR). While stationed at the PMRF Barking Sands he performed routing maintenance and upkeep on four UH-3H helicopters. After his first shore rotation in January of 2006, he received orders to Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15 (HM-15) in Corpus Christi, TX. While attached, Senior Chief Petersen completed four deployments to Manama, Bahrain to include Operation Unified Response Haiti.

In July of 2011, Senior Chief Petersen transferred to the Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Pensacola, FL. While at NATTC he was an Instructor of the AWS "A" where he was selected to Chief Petty Officer. In January of 2015, following his tour at NATTC he was transferred to Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14 (HM-14), stationed in Norfolk, VA. He completed three deployments to Pohang, South Korea. In June of 2018, he reported to the Hellions of HT-28 in Milton, FL., and was selected to Senior Chief and is serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.

Senior Chief Petersen's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), as well as multiple campaign, unit and service awards.
