All applicants must be capable of affiliation within 6 months after this selection board's convene date to be eligible. Selections will be based on most qualified with previous instructor experience in the training command or FRS and currency in NATRACOM aircraft type/model being highly desirable. Selection is based upon "best and fully qualified." Aviation officers from other services whose qualifications are equitable to Naval Aviator or Naval Flight Officer designations are welcome to apply but must have completed an Inter-Service Transfer Pre-screening Questionnaire with the regional Navy Reserve Officer Recruiter prior to applying to the CNATRA RC ASB.
See ASB announcement for full application requirements and submission deadlines.
Upcoming notification of boards will be distributed via General Message and will be posted on the CNATRA website. Boards are typically held three to four times a year.
Once the board convenes, official notification will be given by the TW/SAU chain of command.
After notification by the SAU, you will need to contact the Reserve Recruiters to start your affiliation package.
We cannot provide a specific date, due to fact that everyone’s situation is different. Once your package has been submitted to the Reserve Recruiters, they will take it for action. Depending on how many links in the chain of command your package must go to, is a direct indicator on how fast you will begin drilling. Once your package has been approved by BUPERS and the Recruiters have turned it over to the Wing, you will receive official notification from the TW/SAU as to when your indoctrination period can begin.
Once your record has been gained and accepted into the NSIPS (Reserve Pay System), you should receive pay 7-14 days from the date you drilled.
The minimum participation is an average of 5 days per month. Keeping in mind the proficiency and the number of days to maintain currency. All TW-5 SELRES are required to participate a minimum of 60 production days each fiscal year broken up between drills and AT/ADT orders.
You are not required to live locally to NAS Whiting Field. However, an applicant's ability to commute and maintain proficiency is based on the member. Local is defined as less than 50 miles commuting distance to the base/unit you are assigned to.
Not for executing drills. All travel for drills is the responsibility of the individual SELRES. Billeting will be provided during drill periods at the government expense for those members who are considered non-local. Travel reimbursement while on AT/ADT orders is coordinated through the Wing OSO. All non-local on orders can expect to receive per diem and lodging while on AT/ADT orders.
48 IDT’s and 48 AFTP’s, and 12 days of AT are available to every SELRES. Each SAU may also be provided extra days according to the Active Duty requirement coordinated through the SAU.
You may contact the TW-5 OSO department for any questions: 850-623-7154/7780.
